After the initial ex-showroom launch of the all-electric Mahindra XEV 9S, Mahindra has announced that the order book will open on January 14, 2026.
You will get the chance to drive the Mahindra from January 5, 2026 and if you like it and want a 7-seater electric SEV in your garage, you can do the booking procedure.
1. PERFORMANCE
In India, there is a dearth of good performance mass-market electric vehicles (EVs). However, the XEV 9e fills this gap and is no less powerful.
Top Speed : 202 Kmph
0–100 Kmph : 6.8 seconds
Power Outputs :
59 kWh - 228 Hp & 380 Nm
79 kWh - 285 Hp & 380 Nm
Three Drive Modes :
Range Mode
Everyday Mode
Race Mode
Drive Type : RWD
Transmission : Automatic
2. RIDE QUALITY
The Mahindra XEV 9e has McPherson strut suspension at the front and a 5-link independent suspension at the rear. It has a stabilizer bar at the front and rear. One of the things Mahindra has highlighted is that the dampers are semi-active.
The suspensions are well-tuned for Indian road conditions. The car rides over small to medium-sized potholes with great comfort in the city.
3. HANDLING
The Mahindra Sev 9e is very easy to drive. It may be big and heavy, but you won't feel it while driving it. The steering is light at low speeds and you don't need much force to turn it. And at high speeds and in race mode, the steering is well weighted. Handling is good even at high speeds. The weight distribution is good, which gives you confidence while cornering.
4. BRAKING
The Mahindra XEV 9e has a good braking system. It comes with all-wheel disc brakes as standard. It also has brake-by-wire and an integrated electronic booster that helps in handling even on the move.
The XEV 9e has three types of regen braking as standard. The buttons for their adjustment are provided on the steering wheel. There is a button on the steering wheel to activate the "one-pedal drive". Once activated, the next level is automatically cranked up to level 3.

The battery technology used in the Xev 9e is BYD's Blade battery. The LPF Blade cells come from BYD and the battery packs are assembled by Mahindra in India.
Blade batteries are the most reliable and efficient batteries in the EV industry and perhaps this is why Mahindra is offering a lifetime warranty on the battery for owners for the first time.
The XEV 9e with a 79 kWh battery pack has an ARAI-certified range of 656 km and an internal WLTP tested range of 533 km.
The INGLO platform on which the BE 6e and XEV 9e are based, offers 2C fast charging. The 79 kWh battery pack can charge from 20-80% in just 20 minutes using a 175 kW DC fast charger. Since 175 kW DC fast chargers are not very common, you can also use an AC wall charger which is available in two options - 11 kW and 7.2 kW. The 79 kWh battery pack charges from 0-100% in 8 hours using an 11 kW charger and in 11.7 hours using a 7.2 kW charger.
The charging port is mounted inside the tail-lamp cluster.
7. CONCLUSION
Mahindra has done a truly commendable job with the XAV9e, setting a great precedent for the future of EVs in this segment and this car delivers exactly what Indian EV buyers deserve. Good performance and range, effortless on-road handling and reliable battery backup.
